Configurable Temporary Code
Getting Started
Master Lock Vault Enterprise has a configurable temporary code upgrade now available as a monthly software subscription. Follow the steps below to get started.
Purchase Monthly Subscription Software Upgrade
Select the locks you would like to update and complete the monthly software subscription purchase on Master Lock Vault Enterprise.
- Account Administrators Only - Login to the Master Lock Vault Enterprise website on your browser: enterprise.masterlockvault.com
- View the "Locks" tab and select the check box next to all locks you would like to upgrade.
- Click the "Upgrade Selected Locks" button on the right.
- Review the information on the "Upgrade Selected Locks" screen and click the Configurable Temporary Code "Upgrade" button to proceed.
- Follow the on screen directions to enter and verify your billing address. You will then be directed to complete payment on the Stripe checkout page.
- Enter the email address that will used to receive email notice updates regarding subscription payments.
- Enter the payment information that will be used to make the initial upgrade purchase and kept on file for all upcoming payments. Note, the payment method on file can be updated at any time in the future. You will then be directed back to the Vault Enterprise website after successfully purchasing the upgrades.
Configure the Temporary Code Settings
This upgraded requires a Bluetooth unlock while connected to data or wifi to sync the purchased upgrades. Please first complete a Bluetooth unlock for each of the locks that have been upgraded before continuing. Then, view the lock details screen to configure the purchased upgrade settings.
- Complete a Bluetooth unlock for each lock that has been upgraded while connected to data or wifi after the monthly subscription payment has been completed.
- Account Administrators and Group Administrators - Login to the Master Lock Vault Enterprise website or app.
- Locate the locks that have been upgraded with the Configurable Temporary Code feature.
- On the web:
- View the "Locks" tab and identify the locks that have the blue lock icon in the "Upgrades" column.
- Another option is to click on the "Settings" gear under the sign out button, click on the "Upgrades" subtab, and review the "All Upgrades" and "Temporary Codes" subtabs.
- On the app:
- View the "Locks" tab and tap on the lock that has been upgraded.
- On the lock details screen, tap the "About This Lock" option under Settings.
- Tap the "Upgrades" option and confirm the blue lock icon displays indicating it has the Configurable Temporary Code upgrade feature enabled.
- On the web:
- Configure the Temporary Code lock settings.
- On the web:
- View the lock details for your upgraded locks by clicking on the lock name.
- While on the lock "Settings" tab, click the "Edit" button on the right.
- Under the "Temporary Code Duration" setting, click on the drop down and select the preferred duration.
- Under the Temporary Code Rollover Time, enter the preferred time to start the temporary code windows that will rollover based on the duration selected.
- On the app:
- View the "Locks" tab and tap on the lock that has been upgraded.
- On the lock details screen, tap the "Temporary Code Configuration" option under Settings.
- Tap on the "Duration" option and select the preferred duration.
- Navigate to the previous screen and review the Temporary Code Rollover time. Enter the preferred time to start the temporary code windows that will rollover based on the duration selected.
- On the web:
- Your lock settings have now been saved and are ready to be synced to your locks through a Bluetooth interaction. Please note, once the updates are synced, all previously pulled temporary codes will be invalid and you will have to generate new temporary codes.
Update Your Lock to Apply the New Configurable Temporary Code Settings
The lock settings that were configured now have to be synced to the lock.
- Once your Configurable Temporary Code settings have been updated in the Vault Enterprise website or app, you are ready to sync the updates to your lock.
- In the app, view the lock details screen for the selected lock. If there is a pending update ready to be synced with the lock, a red circular arrow will display next to the lock setting.
- Complete a Bluetooth unlock to push the pending updates to the lock.
- Your lock has now been synced and the new configurable temporary code feature is available for use.
- Please note, the Configurable Temporary Code feature is a lock setting. This allows the lock to be updated to the preferred duration and rollover time. Anytime the Configurable Temporary Code settings are updated and synced with the lock, all previous temporary codes will be invalidated and new temporary codes must be pulled.
Update Your Monthly Subscription
You can update your monthly subscription at any time. Please review the No Refund Policy displayed below.
- Upgrade additional locks in my Organization.
- After the first initial lock upgrade for the Configurable Temporary Code, all subsequent upgrades will be added to your existing monthly subscription and charged in one payment during the next billing period. If an additional lock is upgraded mid-month, you will be charged a prorated fee based on the date of your next billing cycle. For example, if you upgrade an additional lock one week before your next billing cycle, you will be charged the full rate for the initial lock upgrade and a partial fee covering the cost of one week for the additional lock that was updated mid-month.

- View the "Locks" tab and select the check box next to all locks you would like to upgrade.
- Click the "Upgrade Selected Locks" button on the right.
- Review the information on the "Upgrade Selected Locks" screen and click the Configurable Temporary Code "Upgrade" button to proceed.
- Confirm that you would like to add the upgrade to your existing subscription and be charged to the payment method on file during the next scheduled billing period and click the "Purchase" button.
- Remove upgraded Configurable Temporary Code feature from my locks.
- Please review the No Refund Policy displayed below.
- Account Administrators Only - Login to the Master Lock Vault Enterprise website on your browser: enterprise.masterlockvault.com
- Locate the lock that you would like to remove the upgraded Configurable Temporary Code feature from and click on the lock name to view the lock details screen.
- On the "Settings" subtab, locate the "Purchased Upgrades" section that displays the blue lock icon indicated the upgraded feature is available for that lock.
- Click on the "Disconnect" link.
- Confirm that you would like to cancel the upgraded feature on this one lock by clicking the "Disconnect" button.
- You will continue to have access to the configurable temporary code feature through the expiration of the last fully paid billing period. After that time, the default temporary code settings will be applied.
- Manage or Update Billing Information

- Click on the Settings gear icon on the top right and click on the "Upgrades" subtab
- Click on the "Manage Billing" button on the right to enter the Stripe Customer Portal
- Review the information on file for the subscription including the Current Plan payment method, all payment methods on file, and billing information.
- Click on the small pencil icon next to any field that you would like to update and follow the onscreen directions.
- Once complete, click the "Return to Master Lock" link on the left side.

What is a Configurable Temporary Code in Vault Enterprise?
- The Configurable Temporary Code is a monthly feature subscription in Master Lock Vault Enterprise. This is a paid feature to upgrade the Temporary Code lock settings by configuring the temporary code duration. This feature can be used in tandem with the new configurable temporary code rollover time setting allowing detailed control over how your lock’s temporary code is set up and customized to your needs.
What Temporary Code Durations are available?
- There are seven configurable durations that you can set your lock’s temporary code to follow including: 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, and 7 days.
- This feature allows you to customize how you would like to schedule access to your lock using the Temporary Code Duration lock settings options. Any changes to the Temporary Code Duration requires a Bluetooth unlock to sync the lock setting updates. Anytime the Configurable Temporary Code settings are updated and synced with the lock, all previous temporary codes will be invalidated and new temporary codes must be pulled.
What is the Temporary Code Rollover Time?
- The Temporary Code Rollover Time setting allows you to customize the windows of when your temporary code is valid for. Whereas the duration sets the length, the rollover time sets the schedule. For example, if the "2 hours" duration is selected with a rollover time at 7:00 AM, your temporary code windows available would be 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM; 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, ... Whereas, if the rollover time is set to 8:00 AM, your temporary code windows available would be 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM ...
- This feature allows you to customize how you would like to schedule access to your lock using the Temporary Code lock settings options. Any changes to the Temporary Code Rollover Time requires a Bluetooth unlock to sync the lock setting updates. Anytime the Configurable Temporary Code settings are updated and synced with the lock, all previous temporary codes will be invalidated and new temporary codes must be pulled.
How can I purchase a Configurable Temporary Code monthly subscription for my locks?
- Only Account Administrators are able to purchase the Configurable Temporary Code lock upgrades following the steps above. This must be done on the Master Lock Vault Enterprise website for each lock that you would like to have the Configurable Temporary Code feature on.
How do I update my locks to have a Configurable Temporary Code after I've purchased the upgrade subscription?
- After the upgrade subscription has been purchased, please complete a Bluetooth unlock while connected to data or wifi. This will prepare the lock to receive the Configurable Temporary Code setting changes. Follow the steps above to update your lock’s settings and then sync the changes by completing a Bluetooth unlock using your mobile device.
When will I be charged for the upgrade?
- Payment is required the first time an Account Administrator purchases a Configurable Temporary Code upgrade for locks within your organization. Each month, the reoccurring charge will be processed on the date that the initial purchase was made. For example, if your first payment was completed on February 16th, your next payment will automatically be processed on March 16th and on the 16th of each month moving forward.
Why was I charged a partial fee for the upgrade?
- After the first initial lock upgrade for the Configurable Temporary Code, all subsequent upgrades will be added to your existing monthly subscription and charged in one payment during the next billing period. If an additional lock is upgraded mid-month, you will be charged a prorated fee based on the date of your next billing cycle. For example, if you upgrade an additional lock one week before your next billing cycle, you will be charged the full rate for the initial lock upgrade and a partial fee covering the cost of one week for the additional lock that was updated mid-month.
Why isn't my old temporary code working?
- After the Configurable Temporary Code settings have been updated and synced to the lock, all previous temporary codes are invalid. Please pull a new temporary code for the date and time frame that is needed.
Why isn't my new temporary code duration or rollover time showing up when I try to pull a new temporary code?
- Once you make adjustments to the Configurable Temporary Code settings and save the changes, the updates are pending and must be synced to the lock before the new temporary code duration or rollover times are active. Please complete a Bluetooth unlock to update the lock and sync all lock setting changes.
Can I have multiple temporary code durations active on one lock?
- You are not able to have multiple temporary code durations active on one lock. Once the Configurable Temporary Codes settings have been updated and synced to the lock, only the synced settings will be available on the lock. For example, you cannot pull a temporary code for 1 hour and then 8 hours on one lock at the same time. If you need to change the temporary code duration on the lock, all previous temporary codes will be invalidated and new temporary codes must be pulled.
Will the Configurable Temporary Code setting changes be available to everyone who has the correct permission to access the lock’s temporary codes – standard users, group admins, system admins?
- The temporary code setting are a lock setting and will be applied to the lock across the entire Organization. All groups and users who have access and permission to view the lock’s temporary code will view the updated temporary code settings once the changes are synced to the lock.
Who has access to upgrade locks, view and update billing, configure the temporary code, and view the codes?
- Account Administrators:
- Ability to upgrade locks
- Ability to enter the Stripe Customer Portal to view and edit billing information and download invoices
- Ability to configure temporary code settings
- Ability to view current and future temporary codes
- Group Administrators:
- Ability to configure temporary code settings
- Ability to view current and future temporary codes
- Standard Users:
- Ability to view current and/or future temporary codes if the permission is enabled on the Standard User Settings.
If I use a showing service or other integrated partner, how will the configurable temporary code setting changes impact the temporary codes that are pulled there?
- The Configurable Temporary Code setting changes made in Vault Enterprise will extend to all other integrated partner upgrades that the lock is currently used within. For example, if the Temporary Code Duration has been updated to 1 hour in Vault Enterprise and synced on the lock, the 1 hour temporary code window will also be applied to all temporary codes pulled in the integrated partners as well.
- Please note, once the lock has been synced with the Configurable Temporary Code settings in Vault Enterprise, all previous temporary codes will be invalidated and new temporary codes must be pulled in Vault Enterprise, the showing service, or other integrated partners where a previous temporary code was displayed.
- For example, if a real estate agent has a lock box attached to a listing, changes the Configurable Temporary Code settings in Vault Enterprise, and syncs the changes to the lock through a Bluetooth unlock, all past temporary codes displayed in the showing confirmation will be invalid. It is recommended that the Configurable Temporary Code setting changes be synced before it is added to a listing.
How can I update my payment method on file?
- Account Administrators can update the payment method on file for your subscription by accessing the Stripe Customer Portal through the Master Lock Vault Enterprise website. Login to your organization, click on the settings icon on the top right, navigate to the Upgrades subtab, and click on the Manage Billing button to enter the Stripe Customer portal. Locate the payment methods on file to update and make the needed changes.
How can I view paid receipts for my subscription?
- Account Administrators can view paid receipts for your subscription by accessing the Stripe Customer Portal through the Master Lock Vault Enterprise website. Login to your organization, click on the settings icon on the top right, navigate to the Upgrades subtab, and click on the Manage Billing button to enter the Stripe Customer portal. Scroll to the end of the page to view all receipts.
How can I cancel my monthly subscription?
- You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time. Please review the No Refund Policy and follow the steps above.

No Refund Policy
Payments made to your monthly subscription are non-refundable, to the extent permitted by applicable law. No refunds or credits will be provided for any partial subscription periods. You can cancel your subscription at any time and will continue to have access to the service through the expiration of the last fully paid billing period.
